Canadian indie dynamos Wotts just dropped the closing salvo for their EP FLANKI, and it’s a riff-driven beauty called “i’ll see you when the game resets”. This is the duo plugging in, turning up the gain, and giving us pure, unvarnished alt-rock heart. Release date was July 25, 2025. Go find it.

Jayem (handling vocals, production, and basically anything that makes noise) steers this ship into beautifully choppy waters. He’s built this whole soundscape on gnarly guitars and lo-fi textures that feel immediate, real, and refreshingly rough around the edges. This isn’t slick production – it’s breathing, living rock ‘n roll.

But this isn’t just noise for noise’s sake. Bassist and six-string slinger Ricky 100 is the perfect foil, locking down a foundation that’s both scrappy and deeply emotive. He nails the vibe perfectly: calling it “scrappy, emotional and weirdly comforting.” Hell yeah, it is. This track wears its rough edges like a badge of honour – it’s that “ugly duckling” that steals the show because it doesn’t give a damn about being pretty. Ricky’s contributions are what give this thing its backbone and sonic punch.

So what’s the dirt under the fingernails? FLANKI goes deep into loss – we’re talking about losing people, past versions of ourselves, those moments that slip through our fingers. “i’ll see you when the game resets” is the emotional mic drop on that journey. As Jayem puts it, it’s “a real goodbye,” but crucially, one layered with hope. It’s the belief that endings aren’t always final, that maybe, just maybe, we get another shot down the line. It’s not wallowing; it’s staring down the void and whispering, “Later, dude.”

This track totally flips the script on the EP’s piano-heavy, shimmery vibe. Instead, we get these jangly, raw sounds that just slam into you. There’s this urgency to it – like someone’s making a promise while the door’s already swinging shut. And that’s pure FLANKI: right there: yeah, it hurts, but you’re not letting it break you. Ricky nails what this whole EP’s about: it’s cool to feel lost sometimes, just don’t stop believing there’s something good waiting around the corner.

With FLANKIWotts (Jayem and Ricky 100 – remember those names) have dropped their most personal stuff yet.  And as Jayem declares, they’re not hitting reset – they’re reloading. New sounds, no rules. Bring on the next level. “i’ll see you when the game resets” is the perfect, raucous send-off.
