Wotts is back, baby! This Canadian duo is lighting up the scene with their latest, “Better Days”, and holy smokes, it’s a goddamn knockout. Serving as the second single off their imminent EP FLANKI (drop date TBA, but get hyped!), this is a full-blown, sun-drenched, late-night experience. Forget wallowing; Wotts takes all those feelings and wraps them up in a mind-bending package that’ll have you bouncing off the walls.

Hailing from Ottawa, this duo – Jayem (the vocal powerhouse and multi-instrumentalist wizard) and Ricky 100 (the bass/guitar slinger laying down the law) – never disappoints their fans. Jayem, pulling double duty as the track’s producer, does his job perfectly.

“Better Days” kicks off with those guitars that sound like they’ve been baking in the sun all day. It’s got this warm, nostalgic vibe, and then you’ve got these synths that shine like neon signs on a hot summer night, and drums so crisp they practically snap in your ears. But the real secret weapon? The piano. As Ricky 100 rightly declares, guitars and synths are kings, but sometimes only the ivories can channel the soul. Here, it acts as the track’s “north star” – a chill, lo-fi pulse that keeps everything grounded while all this other wild stuff is swirling around.

Lyrically, Jayem ain’t sugarcoating it. Born from processing “some bad stuff that happened last summer,” the song goes into loss and all that. But this ain’t a dirge! Nah, Wotts nails that feeling of a summer night when everything feels kinda fragile, but you’re still holding onto hope, you know? That’s exactly what Jayem was going for, and boy did he nail it. It’s like, yeah, you’re in your feelings, but there’s still something bigger and brighter out there. The FLANKI EP explores different shades of loss, and “Better Days” is a perfect, potent preview – acknowledging the hurt (“definitely sad in places”) but refusing to drown in it. As Jayem says, it’s about “learning to live with loss and if you’re lucky, finding some beauty in it.” Ricky 100 sums up the EP’s mission perfectly: “It’s ok to feel lost, and it’s also ok to believe something good is still out there.” That’s the goddamn spirit!

Wotts isn’t just tossing out songs. They’re sending out a freaking invitation with “Better Days.” Those guitars, those synths – it’s gonna wash over you. Yeah, you’ll feel the weight of it all, but there’s this stubborn little flame of hope burning right through. Consider anticipation for FLANKI officially redlined. Bring it on, boys. Ottawa’s finest are ready to blow the roof off.
