If you are looking for the soundtrack to your quarter-life crisis, look no further than London’s own Weekday Social. These guys just dropped their original single, “Five Years Or So”—this track hits different. It came out since July 5th, 2025, and it’s already been on repeat in the office.
The brains behind the operation is Louise. She actually wrote the bones of “Five Years Or So” years ago, before Weekday Social was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye. It was just her, an acoustic guitar, and a feeling of being lost in her mid-twenties. But a song like this needs muscle, and that’s where the band came in. She brought it to her bandmates, Gavin and Ben, and together they turned a sad-girl diary entry into a full-blown rock anthem.
Lyrically, this one stings a little. It’s about that moment when you come back from some big adventure, or a trip away, and suddenly you’re slammed back into the boring routine of real life. We’ve all been there, right? That feeling of “Is this it?” while you’re stuck in traffic or staring at the same four walls. It’s that restless, bored energy of your mid-twenties, and Louise nailed it.
Sonically, the production is tight but not overdone. They hit the studio—Bonafide Studios up in Muswell Hill—with engineer Brian. Shout out to Strawgirl, another killer band, for recommending that spot because the mix is perfect. It’s clean enough to hear every riff, but dirty enough to keep that live, sweaty feel.
And speaking of live, these cats have been putting in the work. If you haven’t caught them yet, you’re missing out. They’ve already smashed sets at legendary London dives like the Dublin Castle, Signature Brew, and the Spice of Life. They’re taking a minute to plan out their 2026 gigs, but trust us, when they announce them, you want to be there.
“Five Years Or So” is a killer debut single. It’s relatable, and it proves that Weekday Social isn’t just another name on the bill.
