Now hold up – if you’re expecting his usual metal thunder, you’re in for a surprise. This time he’s gone full garage-rock beast mode, and honestly? It’s incredible.
The beauty – and the power – of “Amulet” is in its beautifully unpolished directness. This isn’t your typical overproduced studio track – nope, this is pure rock captured straight from the source: The7thGatekeeper’s own “chaos room”. And that’s precisely where the magic happens. The7thGatekeeper does it all himself. Writing, arranging, playing, recording, mixing – the whole shebang. No committees telling him what to do. No corporate filter watering things down. Just one guy plugging in and letting it rip the second inspiration strikes. He puts it perfectly: “if I had a garage I’d have just set up in there, turned the amp up loud, and gone for it.” And man, that’s exactly what “Amulet” sounds like – raw and absolutely electric.
“Amulet” is based on a Thomas Morris short story, and you can totally hear how it captures that childlike sense of hope and wonder. There’s something nostalgic running through the whole thing – but it’s not trying to be retro. What’s really cool is how different this sounds from The7thGatekeeper’s heavier stuff. He’s not playing it safe here. And it works. The track gets the crucial final sheen from none other than Romesh Dodangoda (Longwave Studios) on mastering duties.
