Strap yourselves in because Pray Silence just dropped “Kill Room” and it’s an absolute monster. This Edinburgh-based crew is coming at you with something heavy, dark, and completely unapologetic. And honestly, it’s exactly what rock music needed right now.
Let me break down who we’re dealing with here. Pray Silence is the brainchild of Marky Wildtype—that’s Edinburgh’s own singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist—and Sam Siggs, who also goes by Pillowfight Cenobite and fronts garage punk band The Head Henchmen. These two felt it was time to get back to something heavier, and boy did they deliver. Rather than showing up fully formed, this band slowly coalesced in the dark over years, gathering strength until they hit critical mass. That’s the kind of origin story that makes you pay attention.
Now, “Kill Room” is the follow-up to their debut single “Dragon of Chaos,” and it’s a massive step up. The track leans hard into that dark, driving, uncompromisingly heavy sound. We’re talking stadium-sized riffs and energy that’ll knock you sideways. But here’s the thing—they never sacrifice melody for heaviness. There’s these rich, anthemic hooks buried under all that grit that’ll have you singing along before you know it.
Sam’s handling vocals, and let me tell you, his performance is something else. He’s anchoring all that heavy instrumental chaos with genuine emotion, keeping it grounded when everything else is going off the rails. Marky’s on guitar duty, slinging riffs that’ll make your ears bleed in the best way possible. And the rhythm section? Anchored by Ewen on drums, they’re locked in tight, perfectly complementing all that guitar-driven heft.
If you’re into Biffy Clyro, Arcane Roots, Foo Fighters, President, Jamie Lennan/Reuben, Black Peaks, or Fightstar, this is gonna be right up your alley. The band’s got that knack for balancing massive, abrasive instrumentals with highly accessible songwriting—the kind of thing that works just as well in a stadium as it does in a sweaty club.
And there’s a music video too, directed by acclaimed local filmmaker Sergio Cosme. Can’t wait to see what visual nightmare they’ve cooked up for this track.
The live incarnation of Pray Silence is currently brewing, with dates to be announced soon. Trust me, you’re gonna want to catch these guys when they hit the stage. This is the kind of band that’ll level a room.
