Ivan Mudd have been quiet for a while. The Norwegian trio from Horten formed back in 2010 and cranked out three concept records between then and 2016 – Greetings Earthlings, Spaceminister, and The Supreme Plateau. They called that run the Alien Abduction Trilogy. They toured Norway and England, hit the International Pop Overthrow Festival, and even played Liverpool’s Cavern Club. Then they vanished. Now they’re back, and they’re not messing around. “Getaway Car” is the first taste of their new album Tales From The Valley, and it’s a shot of adrenaline straight to the gut.

The song is a melodic, high-energy blast. It mixes big pop hooks with dirty guitars, fuzz, and a punk-infused indie rock punch. Think catchy choruses that stick in your head, but played with enough grit to keep things from getting too clean. The trio calls their sound powerpop, like a slideshow of loud, bright moments that hit hard and fast. The track moves, it drives, and it never lets up.

Tales From The Valley is a story-driven concept album, out since September 25. It’s built like the soundtrack to an imaginary TV series set in a fictional town full of thieves, celebrities, and lost souls. Every song is a piece of the bigger picture, and there’s a series of cinematic videos introducing the locations and characters of The Valley. “Getaway Car” is part of that world, and you can feel the narrative weight behind it even without knowing the full story.

The band reunited in 2025 after a long break, dropping the White EP and Black EP before hitting the stage again. Now they’re pushing their combination of melody, noisy guitars, and cinematic storytelling further than ever. “Getaway Car” is out now on Spotify and all major streaming platforms. If you like your rock with brains, hooks, and a little bit of dirt under the nails, this one’s for you. Ivan Mudd are back, and they’re not slowing down.
