How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it?
I originally called it “Bossy Jazz”. A little bossa nova, a little jazz, equals Bossy Jazz. However, being in the industry, I have been able to collaborate on projects outside my usual genre and create music from House to Pop.
How has your sound evolved since you first started making music?
My very first song was a synth pop song called “Full Moon Rising”. I loved the song because it showcased what my music style will be. However, It wasn’t my music so I didn’t promote it much. But the style set the tone for ALL my music. Soft vocals, smooth, very vibey!!
What’s a bizarre or unexpected inspiration behind one of your songs?
True story… So one fan had commented how my voice reminded him of a Siren. He said it holds you hostage and makes you drift like you’re floating on air. Pretty & Deadly like a Siren. Hahaha, I loved that comment so much I created a song called ” A Siren Lullaby”. I hope it reminds you guys of that opening scene from the movie Ghost Ship.
What’s the most memorable moment of your music career so far?
I haven’t had one yet. I was invited to perform at a Jazz Club in Chicago. That’s something. I may still take them up on there offer one day but I need a good band. I don’t want to sing on a track. lol. The most shocking thing was googling my own name and The Ai Overview listed me as “Musical Artist.”
Tell us all you can about your latest release and where and when to find it?
My new song, Broken Doll was something I originally wrote for my mom. She has been in and out of abusive relationships all her dating life. Not one decent man or any guy to show her real love. Her problem is she treats each one of these relationships like “Gold”. No matter who she is with at the time, they have her utmost respect no matter what they do to her. Cheating, beating, lying, hurting her kids, she will never leave them, they have to leave her. This final situationship (because it’s not a relationship) that she is in has destroyed her entire family. But she’d defend him until the end. She is fighting stage 4 liver cancer and instead of fighting for her life, she is STILL fighting for the guy she is with who doesn’t even like her. Something has to be broken in her to be so blind. Hence the song, Broken Doll. Growing up with a mom like that also has a lasting effect on her daughters and how they proceed in relationships with men.
I’ve been married almost 20 years to a wonderful man who treats me like a spoiled princess yet, I can’t accept his love. It’s a toxic web that my mother created that she had the power to nip in the bud every single time. But she hasn’t and probably never will. Broken Doll is deep and hopefully leaves an impression. I don’t have a lot of lyric videos or songs. This is probably my first. I want people to know the lyrics and relate. There are a lot of Broken Dolls out there both male and female. It is something that needs to be talked about. We live in Our parents shame, but I need them to know… it’s not Our fault the choices they made.
