My Glass World just dropped “We’re All The Same” and it’s got me nodding my head like I’ve got a spring in my neck. These British indie-rock-pop veterans are back with their first taste of album number eight, and let me tell you—they haven’t lost a step.
Jamie Telford wrote this track, and he’s got this idea that’s been kicking around in his head since 2021 or 2022. In a world full of people screaming about their differences, he’s reminding us that underneath all the noise, we’re basically the same bunch of confused humans trying to figure it out. And honestly, in 2026, that message hits harder than a sledgehammer to the face.
But let’s talk about the music, because that’s where this thing really cooks. My Glass World brought in some serious heavy hitters for this one. Martyn Kaine on drums, and Ali Friend—yeah, that Ali Friend from Red Snapper—on acoustic stand-up bass. Then you’ve got Sean Read doing double duty—backing vocals, tambourine, and those smooth saxophone lines that just float over everything like honey on a hot biscuit. And Jimi Scandal on electric guitar, adding just enough bite to keep things interesting. It’s a killer combination that My Glass World has been perfecting over the years—this is their fifth full-length collaboration with Sean Read as producer and arranger, so you know they’ve got that chemistry dialled in.
Telford’s casting a wide net here. He’s looking at everybody—paper vendors, money lenders, pavement artists, orchestra conductors, cafe owners, and yeah, even mafia bosses. All these different folks from all walks of life, and the punchline is simple: we’re all the same. It’s thoughtful without being preachy, and that’s a tough balance to strike.
And you gotta check the video. Simon Miles put together this collage of microscopic blood cells, crowds of people, and footage from a colorized version of Fritz Lang’s 1927 masterpiece “Metropolis.” It’s a visual trip that matches the song’s themes of identity and shared humanity. Pretty cool stuff.
“We’re All The Same” is the first peek at “Extraordinary Renditions,” My Glass World‘s eighth studio album coming in September. If this single’s anything to go by, we’re in for something special. These guys have been at it for years, and they keep getting better.
