Holy hell, what did we just stumble into? You know that feeling when a riff won’t let go? Yeah. That’s “The Sparrow” from Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends — and lemme tell ya, this ain’t no lullaby for birdwatchers.

The main man behind this whole operation, ALIEN FRIEND (yeah, that’s his damn name), used to sling guitar and sing for the Swedish outfit REDMOON. Now he’s flying solo, and thank the rock gods for that. This track reportedly came to him IN A DREAM. A dream! You don’t get riffs this gnarly from counting sheep — this man was wrestling demons or flying through some cosmic nightmare, because “The Sparrow” drips with uneasy tension and dark, swirling melancholia.

Andreas Quincy Dahlback behind the drum kit? Absolute beast. That man keeps the whole thing breathing, raw, and alive — no metronome prison here. This is organic thunder, folks.

The tune shifts through tonal changes like a bar fight changing corners. Minor keys everywhere. Church bells? Yep. Mellotron? You bet. It’s creepy, it’s beautiful, and it’s weird as hell — in the best possible way.

Now here’s the kicker: Stefan Petersson (yeah, the guy from Mother James and way back when from Morifade) jumps in with that high-pitched wail on the phrase Fly, sparrow fly. That vocal stab hits you right in the chest. Chills, baby. Pure chills.

The song sits on the upcoming album The King and the Sparrow (dropping May 2026), and apparently this cut is “an odd bird” compared to the rest. Good. We like odd birds. We like songs that take risks, that swing for the fences with Swedish folk echoes and psychedelic weirdness.

Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends — keep your eyes on these aliens. The Sparrow flies. And it flies hard.
